Tell us a little bit of history about your business:

First Iowa State Bank was originally organized as Farmers Savings Bank of Keosauqua and Birmingham in March of 1931. Van Buren Bancorporation was formed in 1980 and purchased State Savings Bank of Cantril in 1983. A branch of State Saving Bank was opened in Bloomfield in 1994, merging with Farmers Saving Bank in 1996 to form Community First Bank. In early 2013 CFB acquired First Iowa State Bank in Albia & Eddyville, Iowa and in 2015 changed its name to First Iowa State Bank to tie the two banks to each other. In 2017 First Iowa State Bank became one of only a handful of 100% employee-owned community banks in Iowa.

What are the services or products your business provides?

FISB provides both, Personal & Business banking. We provide Agriculture, Real Estate, Commercial, and Consumer lending, along with your personal and business deposit options.

What is your favorite thing about having a business in our community?

First Iowa State Bank employee’s live in this area with their families. Our employees enjoy interacting with customers both in the bank and at different community activities.
